"Seva Teams" is the phrase we at the Spiritual Enrichment Center use to describe our volunteers. Seva is a concept that means "selfless service offered to God." The focus of seva is to bring our highest and most conscious self to all we do and to do all we do with reverence for the sacred.  

Friends and members of the church who participate in this aspect of giving bring their energy, consciousness and commitment to creating a healthy and vibrant spiritual community together. This endeavor is viewed as a significant part of our spiritual practices.

We encourage all to experience this Oneness of Spirit by joining a Seva Team. This provides a space for practicing mindfulness, to grow in relationship with others in the community and to support the well-being of the community. Membership in the community is not essential in order to participate. You may contact those listed below by email or call the church office at 221-4849 to sign-up for a team. We welcome you into selfless service to God.

Seva Teams

Administrative Support: Lorie Barnes ().  Includes Awareness newsletter mailing team, CD Club, special mailings, street sign updater and Sunday program folding team.

Audio Video:  Jill Armanda Boland, board member (). Controls the sound system during services and special events. Duplicates recordings of Sunday services for sale and distribution.

Awareness Mailing:  Pegi Bockrath, board member (). Meets one day bi-monthly (towards end of month) to put the Awareness news letter together.

Bookstore:  Sylvia Kunz (). Coordinates who volunteers in the bookstore before, in between and after Sunday services, runs cash register and assists customers.

Building Maintenance: Dave Forseth, board member (). Repair of the church, pavilion, cottage and grounds on an as needed basis.

CD Club: Lorie Barnes lorie@reddingsec.org.  Makes copies of CDs, labels, etc. as needed, invoices participants and mails CDs.

Children’s Church Teachers:  Kelly Rizzi (). Assist in providing Sunday school for children aged 3-12. Meet monthly for scheduling.

Choir:  Phoebe Fazio (). Meets weekly on Thursdays from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Performs twice a month. On Recess until September.

Cleaning:  Sherry Miller, board member (). Meets one Saturday per month as a team to clean the church and outbuildings.

Community Seva Outreach:  Jill Armanda Boland, board member (). Stages special events and projects to benefit other community organizations.

Community Update Board: Sandy Babcock, coordinator (). Updates the community at large about events in the lives of the members and friends of the congregation with regards to requests for treatment requests.

Friendship Packets Compilation: Anne Steyskal (). Compiles documents and items for Friendship Packets to be handed out to first-time visitors to the Center.

Friendship:  Pegi Bockrath, board member (). On the first Sunday of each month, prepares coffee & tea and brings goodies to share with congregation and new comers.

Health Ministries: Sandy Babcock, team captain (). The purpose of this team is to increase the health and wellbeing of our congregation. This includes the Walk Around the World program, the Day of Healing and doing blood pressure screenings.

Landscape:  Charlie Born, board member (). Meets once per month on the 2nd Saturday from 8:00 a.m. Also have opportunities for lawn mowing.

Membership:  Pegi Bockrath, board member livelovelaughpegi!@gmail.com. Prepares a light lunch for new membership tea. Meets quarterly.

Men's Group: Joe Asebedo, coordinator (). Meets the 1st Monday of each month at 7:00 PM in the Meditation Pavilion.

Music:  Dr. Andrea Asebedo (). Schedules Sunday performers for 10:30 Sunday services as well as concerts.

Nasruddin's Espresso Bar:  Jill Boland, board member jillboland@yahoo.com. One time per month makes and serves specialty coffees, teas and drinks.

Pledge Statement: Sylvia Kunz (). Mails out pledge statements quarterly. Volunteers must be members of the church.
 
Prosperity Team:  Roy Woolfstead, board member (). Meets weekly to collate and count collections and donations.

Publicity/Website:  Rev. Lynn E. Fritz (). Compiles and distributes press releases, creates and distributes flyers for all outreach projects/events and oversight of website.

Special Events:  Lorie Barnes (). Stages and presents events throughout the year.

Special Mailings:  Lorie Barnes (). Oversees special mailings throughout the year.

Sunday Programs: Lorie Barnes (). Folds and collates Sunday programs.

Sunday Services: Doug Hoerber, board member (). Coordinates who will serve as Greeters and Ushers at the 9:00 and 10:30 services.

Wedding Team: Lita Evans (). Works with prospective couples to have weddings and/or rehearsals at the Center.

Ministries

Community Outreach:  Rev. Lynn E. Fritz (). Co-chair for “A Season for Nonviolence;” develops outreach projects and marketing; responsible for oversight of the website.

Congregational Support:  Rev. Pam Sanchez (). On an “as needed” basis to support members with meals or other requests.

Meditation/Spiritual Practices:  Rev. Pam Sanchez (). Facilitators conduct meditation sessions weekly.

Peace Center:  Rev. Sue MillerBorn (). Co-chair for the Season for Non-Violence and Peace Activities.

Sacred Sisters Women’s Group:  Rev. Sue MillerBorn (). Spiritual women gather once a month on the second Monday of each month from 7:00 p.m.- 8:30 p.m. On recess until September. Will resume on second Monday in September.

Sharing the Wisdom Discussion Group:  Rev. Mary Mitchell (). Elders share on a monthly basis.

"Source" Youth Group:  Ace Clemens (). Advisors facilitate weekly youth group meetings and meet once per month for a planning meeting.
